Beautiful view. A restaurant is right next to the tower. Small excursion destination, nothing else special
We came across the Luise tower (Luise turn) en route on one of the many hiking trails in the area. Fantastic view in all directions from the tower.
The Luisenturm is located above Borgholzhausen and offers a very beautiful view in all directions. When the visibility is good, you can see both the Hermann and the Porta Westfalica. The tower is 16m high and can be easily climbed using the sturdy stairs. The tower can be reached as part of a hike or from the nearby parking lot.
Very beautiful view. Unfortunately we had bad weather. From the parking lot it is only 300m to the tower. There is coffee and cake in the hut, very tasty and the fireplace adds a special flair.
The Luisenturm is always interesting. And be it as a destination or as a half-time destination on our mountain bike tours. The first few rides up the mountain are strenuous... After that it gets easier. If you have time, please definitely stop by the restaurant downstairs! The waffles and cake are super delicious!
Strenuous climb if you don't come from the parking lot, but from the motorhome parking space down past the natural stage... at the top of the tower there is a wonderful view of the Teuteburg Forest. The stairs are not suitable for people with a head for heights because of the bars, see video. The restaurant at the foot of the Luisenturm was well attended during our visit. Information about the area and descriptions of the hiking trails are plentiful and the hiking trails are well signposted.
Unfortunately, the inconsiderate downhill riders are also trying hard to destroy nature in the long term! It's so tiring to go up and down the mountain with electric support when you're lazy about running and pedaling.
My hiking tip:
From the parking lot on Bergstrasse you head towards the natural and open-air theater at the foot of the Teutoburg Forest. There you follow the signs "Luisenturmhütte" and shortly afterwards a narrow path runs uphill. At the crossroads, the path marked "L", later "H" leads to the Luisenturm. The tower is around 300 m high and can be climbed free of charge at any time .
Beautiful place where my father used to visit often during military service. The lookout tower provides fantastic views of the area. You have to climb 87 steps to the top, but it is definitely worth it. At the bottom of the tower is a cozy spot where you can eat and drink. All in all worth a visit.
